Workplaces that have fire extinguishers are required to do certain things regarding their care, maintenance, and usage:
1. Fire Extinguishers should be inspected monthly to ensure that the device is ready to be deployed if needed.
2. Fire Extinguishers should be inspected annually to be sure the weight of the extinguisher matches the type of extinguisher it is. Extinguishers require hydrostatic testing: Every 5 years for pressurized water, carbon dioxide, and wet chemical fire extinguishers. Every 12 years for dry chemical fire extinguishers.
3. Any workplace that has fire extinguishers are required to identify an emergency plan and should include annual training of the use of fire extinguishers in accordance with OSHA 1910.157
Our training for Fire Extinguishers involves the following:
1. Approximately 90 minute in class presentation on the safe use of a fire extinguisher and how to react in the event of a fire emergency.
2. A live practical use demonstration on the use of fire extinguishers. Each student is required to show competency in the deployment and use of a fire extinguisher with a live controlled fire.

CPR Training employees are knowledgeable fire, EMS, and fire alarm systems professionals that manage safety inspections year round. We can tailor a specific plan to your place of business, which can include inspection, remediation, and training.
Our Plans:
Monthly On Site Fire Extinguisher Inspections: Map all on site extinguishers and provide a plan for monthly visual inspection to ensure that each extinguisher is green and ready to be deployed, the safety pin is present and functioning to avoid accidental discharge, and observe the overall condition of the unit. An inspection report is submitted to the company contact. We can recommend action, or we can be contracted to take action as needed on our findings. Notifications are also made in cases where the units are blocked or not identified as this could be a violation of OSHA.
Annual On Site Fire Extinguisher Inspections: The year culminates with the extensive inspection of the weight of the unit, observing the hydrostatic test date expiration, and overall appearance and reporting our findings.
